Tool Drive
Our
volunteers have installed hundreds
of wood steps using tools we pick
up and return to the Berkeley Tool
Library. We would like to build
our own set of tools for Path building. Do
you have any old tools you could
donate to BPWA?
We
could use mattocks of all types and
weights, even hand picks. This
would include a pick mattock, Mcloud,
pickaxe or a Pulaski. Any
kind of sledge hammer would be appreciated,
long, short, heavy or light. We
need flat bladed shovels of all types
and weights, long and short handled. We
could use shovels with both broad
and narrow blades, and even garden
trowels. We could also use
spirit levels, especially ones that
are two feet long and have a ruler
marked on one side, as tape measurers
are also in short supply.
Other
tools we have found useful include:
brooms for cleanup; buckets for hauling
small tools, dirt or wood chips;
tarps for hauling wood chips or plant
debris: gloves for safety; garden
trowel or soil knife for cleanup
or finish work. Garden tools
used for clearing paths from overgrowth
include loppers, pruning shears and
pruning saw, in addition to the ever
useful mattocks.
Our
wish list for the future would also
include a sturdy weed whip, 40cc
or better, with a harness. We
could use an Abney hand level, clinometer,
or Brunton compass.
Any
donations would be most appreciated
by our volunteers, the members of
the Berkeley Path Wanderers Association,
and our community. Thank you.
